Project Overview
Along with my teammate Tristan Gibbons, I decided to dedicate my senior design project to improving the research capabilities of the lab I was working in at the time. Our lab had recently begun running florescence experiments to verify that our nanopore trapping technique was indeed immobilizing nanoparticles at the pore entrance. The aim of our project was to enable research into one of the major advantages of our technique, nanoparticle manipulation.
My Contributions
As I was more familiar with the conditions under which the device would be used, I made most of the general design decisions such as how the device would generate flow and how the nanopore chip would be held in the device. Ultimately we decided to move the reservoir instead of the nanopore so that our florescence microscope could maintain focus on the pore entrance. My partner completed the CAD design while I fabricated the reservoir as well as the chip holder seen below.
